Our Internship program offers a challenging hands-on structured experience. You will be working in conjunction with Expeditors' employees learning the process, terminology, and skills required to be successful in a fast-paced operation handling a varied customer base. + This is a paid position and typically is 3 to 4 months in duration. + We are looking for someone that can work 20 hours a week. + The schedule will be 1:00pm - 5:00pm. + Please note the job requires the candidate to report into the office. + The pay for the internship will be $19/hour. Some of the job functions include, but not limited to: + Receive goods and check freight for correct quantity, quality and possible damages, + Picking, checking and loading pallets for outgoing freight, + Loading and unloading of trucks by use of a forklift and/or electric pump trucks, + Create OSD reports and ensure correct completion, + Checking cargo manifests and assign to the Warehouse Agent Senior or Lead, + Adhere to security and compliance rules as set up by Expeditors, + Ensure a safe work environment, + Meet KPI standards in accordance with the Company's procedure, + Maintain a clean work environment, all transport systems, storage areas, workplaces, + Meet compliance at all times to regulations internal and external in accordance with government regulations, + Escalation of problems to Management when necessary. + Candidate must be available for 3-4 months + Must be able to commute to the office (San Diego 92154) + High School Degree or equivalent required + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States + Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa + Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department needs + Fluent in English, both written and verbal + Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint) + Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills + Familiarity with 10-key usage + Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized + Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action + Strong organizational skills + Analytical with a strong attention to detail + Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results + Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment + Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills + Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability + Comfortable working in a professional business environment + Proven ability and desire to learn new software and technologies The pay rate for this position is $19/ hour Expeditors offers excellent benefits + Paid Vacation, Holiday, Sick Time + Health Plan: Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental and Vision + Life and Long Term Disability Insurance + 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan (US only) + Employee Stock Purchase Plan + Training and Personnel Development Program
