Job Description

The Weber School is seeking a dynamic, student centered educator and leader to serve as a Grade Level Dean for the 2025-2026 school year. The primary responsibility of a Grade Level Dean is to create a school culture that supports the School’s mission of shaping knowledgeable, thinking, and responsible young Jewish adults. Grade Level Deans serve as a central address for students and their parents. As key members of the school‘s leadership team, Grade Level Deans support the overall academic, intellectual, and emotional environment of the school.  As such, they coordinate and work in concert with all other student-facing faculty and staff including content area deans, student support personnel, teachers, college counselors, and the Director of Admissions to create a healthy school community. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific work activities for Grade Level Deans include the following:

  • Teaching classes (up to 3) in area of content expertise
  • Serving as first point of contact for new students entering the School and maintains and coordinates partnerships between students, parents, faculty, and student support services
  • Providing guidance in developing students’ course schedule and graduation plan to ensure that all graduation requirements are met and that students’ strengths and interests are aligned with academic pursuits
  • Serving as the initial escalation point for student scheduling questions and concerns, working with the Principal, Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Dean of Educational Planning as appropriate.
  • Participating in the Student Support Team to stay abreast of specific students needs, as well as trends regarding the academic and social emotional well being of the student body
  • Serving as main liaison for initial parent/student inquiries and provides direction and linkage to appropriate parties
  • Facilitating communication between faculty and students to foster collegial relationships with the Dean’s office and to develop self advocacy skills for students
  • Providing support and corrective measures to address student behavioral concerns
  • Providing feedback to support and improve the academic program at Weber (e.g., patterns related to student-teacher interactions, information regarding student inquiries into elective courses, areas of need within the master schedule)
  • Convening and facilitating teacher team and parent/teacher/student meetings on matters related to student concerns (e.g., academic issues, scheduling updates, behavioral concerns)
  • Reviewing and developing mission-aligned policies related to student welfare
  • Providing consultation and feedback regarding student leadership and programming in collaboration with the Director of Student Leadership and Programming
  • Supervising student programming and activities (e.g., grade trips) in collaboration with school faculty and staff

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree  (Masters or higher) in Educational Leadership, Teaching (or educational content area), or closely related/relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience or a combination of teaching experience and school leadership
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the broader community. 
  • A strong desire and willingness to grow professionally and work as part of a team.
