EMI/EMC Qualification Test Engineer Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position $45.57-$51.05/Hour Ability to Obtain and Maintain Secret Clearance Be part of the digital transformation of the U.S. defense industry by supporting EMI/EMC qualification testing for next-generation military ground vehicle systems. This position focuses on component-level testing, failure analysis, and test documentation in accordance with military standards and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices. Responsibilities: * Execute EMI/EMC Qualification Testing and Design Verification Testing (DVT) in accordance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and relevant Data Item Description (DID) documents. * Draft and revise detailed test plans, procedures, and final reports in compliance with DI-EMCS-8xxxx documentation requirements. * Perform failure analysis, recommend corrective actions, and support simple design modifications. * Prepare parts lists, manage procurement coordination, and track equipment schedules and availability. * Review vehicle specification documents, assess signal monitoring needs, and interpret system drawings (1-wire, 2-wire, LRU-level). * Create or revise EMI/EMC test cable drawings and associated documentation. * Work closely with test equipment designers, hardware engineers, harness engineers, and project managers to execute and support test operations. * Participate in and conduct peer reviews of test work products. * Troubleshoot test failures and support design teams with corrective engineering input. * Document test progress, maintain schedules, identify risks, and ensure on-time deliverables. * Support occasional travel to test sites/labs and work flexible hours as needed. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics preferred; other technical degrees considered with relevant experience. * Ability to Obtain and Maintain a Secret Clearance * 5+ years of experience in qualification testing with a focus on EMI/EMC. * Direct experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, or relevant CISPR/commercial equivalents. * Proficiency in writing test plans, reports, and CDRLs per Data Item Descriptions. * Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio. * Physically capable of working in and around military vehicles; must meet ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirements). * Ability to move and secure test components, tape down cables, and ensure sub-2.5 milliohm electrical connections. * Self-motivated with a learning mindset and ability to work independently or in a team environment. * Willingness to travel occasionally for testing and field support. Preferred Qualifications: * Active U.S. Security Clearance. * Prior experience with ground combat vehicle systems. * iNARTE EMC certification. * Experience with EMI/EMC design principles and radiation effects mitigation. * Experience using Teamcenter, NX, CREO, CATIA, or other CAD platforms. * Ability to interpret and apply electrical assembly and harness design drawings. * Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools like Cameo. * Understanding of TEMPEST standards, RED/BLACK separation, and electromagnetic simulation software. * Knowledge of gamma/neutron radiation degradation in electronic components. * Experience in procurement of test components through tools like Oracle or using purchasing cards.
