Position Title: Senior Writer / Technical Editor

Position Overview

The Senior Writer provides high-level technical writing, editing, documentation development, and content integration for FAA's AIP Handbook update and Program Reporting and Documentation efforts. This includes major documents such as the NPIAS Report, policy analyses, guidance material, and public-facing content.

Responsibilities

AIP Handbook Support

• Draft and edit major sections of FAA Order 5100.38E.
• Develop training documentation and ensure Section 508-compliance.
• Write, edit, and refine content for FAA's external AIP Handbook website.
• Organize materials, prepare communication products, and support training logistics.

Program Reporting, Policy & Documentation

• Lead writing, formatting, and editing of NPIAS Reports, Appendices, charts, tables, and map descriptions.
• Produce polished narrative for policy analyses, regulatory documentation, and responses to public comments.
• Edit and prepare audit-related analyses, internal controls reports, and technical guidance.
• Support drafting of Federal Register notices, guidance manuals, handbooks, and internal program materials.
• Coordinate with analysts, technical staff, and the COR to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
