Job Description
At TPH, our purpose is to lead the world in the holistic development of student-athletes, advancing – in and beyond the game – the next generation of impact players. We are an academy-style athletics program that enables the opportunity to develop athletics, academics, and character while helping student-athletes achieve their long term athletic goals.
TPH is looking for a Player Development Coach and Mentor to join the team in Phoenix, AZ.
Player Development Coaches & Mentors do exactly what their job titles state: coach athletes directly, in areas related to their sport, and mentor them on “the process” of reaching their potential, in sport, school and most importantly, life. These individuals multi-task and often work hand-in-hand with the actual Director in areas such as business, operations, admin and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. Player Development Coaches & Mentors often specialize in components of athletic instruction and deliver the actual training to the student-athletes. They are 100% athlete-focused, wear multiple hats, and have an opportunity to grow to become Heads of their actual sport, or Directors themselves. This position also comes with a strong focus on providing input in developing a strategic plan to drive student-athlete interest in the Academy model and building a database of prospective student-athletes.
TPH believes in building a team of high-character, highly competent, high-performing individuals who possess: - A willingness to work, grind and hone their craft on a daily basis.
- A passion for building personal and/or professional relationships with fellow staff members, student-athletes, their families and all members of the athletic and academic community.
- Openness to learn about, utilize and help improve TPH’s operational infrastructure.
- A desire to embrace a non-traditional work schedule with non-traditional hours.
- An open-mindedness to an occupation that requires multitasking and the “wearing of multiple-hats."
- A willingness to understand the relationship between mentorship, execution, and financial performance.
Required Qualifications - 3+ years of amateur, junior, collegiate and/or professional hockey instructional or coaching experience, ie. it should be clear on your resume and/or cover letter that you have previously instructed youth players on the game of hockey.
- Keen interest in recruiting and building relationships with potential student-athlete families.
- Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions.
The following qualifications are considered assets when applying for this position:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Past business operations/organizational experience, hockey-related preferred
Salary for this position is commensurate with experience and includes full benefits.
