Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of fabrication and machining processes, tooling, and fixtures to produce fully finished precision parts for fluid control devices used in medical, industrial, material handling, and other industries. This role focuses on fabrication in a high-mix environment, as well as assisting with machining processes including multi-axis turning and milling work centers, and drill/tap machines. The engineer will support the design of tools and fixtures in Solid Edge or Solidworks, provide production cost estimates, select and purchase cutting tools and production equipment, validate production processes and equipment in accordance with ISO 9001 and customer specifications, develop process control plans for key product characteristics (KPCs), and lead troubleshooting in case of process failures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cost estimates for engineering time, capital, tooling, and fixtures required for new processes.
  • Ensure equipment designs are safe and ergonomic for manufacturing operators.
  • Meet cost, capital, and product performance goals with the process.
  • Assure minimum effective module sizes to allow volume linearity of capital where possible.
  • Develop assembly and test line concepts that allow flexible running of multiple product families with exchangeable or common tooling, labor linearity across multiple staffing levels, efficient capital utilization, and high line output.
  • Achieve 5 Sigma Process capability Cpk of 1.67 for KPCs and Cpk of 1.33 for other dimensions.
  • Conduct PFMEA’s to ensure processes with low RPNs (Risk Priority Number), focusing on design solutions, then tooling solutions, and lastly, quality checks to address risk areas.
  • Apply error proofing at operation and in a layered approach with other processes where feasible.
  • Develop PCP process control plans for KPCs, KCCs, etc., with SPC as appropriate.
  • Create problem response charts for key product and process failure modes.
  • Design processes for maintainability and develop planned and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Load PM plans into the system with input from maintenance and others as appropriate.
  • Develop and release process workbooks and associated operator standard work documents.
  • Hold key review meetings for process concept/design and safety as appropriate.
  • Raise ECO process packages, assign actions, and follow up to ensure close out.
  • Provide timing charts, cost, and resource estimates for tooling and fixtures.
  • Log hours to appropriate projects and ensure money is spent on appropriate sub-projects.


Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Manufacturing or Mechanical.
  • Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within Fabrication.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes.
  • 3D CAD design experience - Solidworks or Solid Edge.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Machining and CNC experience.

  • Machining experience.

Work Environment

The Manufacturing Engineer will report to a designated team leader and work within a team of three manufacturing engineers. Standard hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with some flexibility. The role involves close collaboration with product development engineers, quality engineers, and operators to ensure efficient manufacturing design. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of pneumatic and fluid control valves, valve systems, and customized products for various industries, including medical, analytical, factory automation, test and measurement, and process control. The role offers exposure to machining, assembly, and fabrication processes, and includes a project management component. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.30/hr.
