Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Metro Detroit, MI three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
Join our Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering organization as an Electrical Hardware Design and Validation Engineer, where you will be a key contributor to the development and deployment of future automotive displays, connectivity, compute, and electrical systems. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, pushing the boundaries of automotive technology by designing innovative electrical systems and modules for next-generation electric vehicle and/or internal combustion engine platforms. What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Design, develop, and validate electrical hardware, systems and schematics for automotive vehicle programs
Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering teams to integrate electrical components seamlessly
Generate detailed documentation including wiring diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, bills of material (BOMs), and test procedures
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical and hardware systems during build, integration, and testing phases
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and company policies
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cost, electrical design, reliability, and manufacturability
Opportunities Include:
Leading the integration of the assigned harnesses/cables within the vehicle architecture
Supporting PCB layout, component selection, and system prototyping activities from board to enclosure level of integration
Develop and test components for EMC and environmental performance
Perform validation of audio quality, connectivity, reception, and RF regulatory certifications
Develop and test interior displays and infotainment systems
Harness optimization for cost, mass, vehicle integration and manufacturing
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
Must be graduating between Dec 2025 – June 2026
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, etc.)
Demonstratable knowledge in electrical system design, schematics, and documentation
Knowledge of safety compliance standards (UL, CE, ISO 13849, etc.)
Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative development cycles
Familiarity with simulation tools for circuit analysis (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink)
Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits, PCB layout, PLC Control, and component selection
Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, Siemens NX, Capital, or CAD design tools
Compensation: The base salary will be based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
